Promotions for Piku are going to be most unusual: Big B
After Shamitabh, Amitabh Bachchan has once again used the triedand-tested formula of social media promotions for his upcoming film Piku, which has been directed by Shoojit Sircar.
However, the promotions for Piku are going to be "most unusual", Bachchan has disclosed on his official blog on Tumblr.
"The shoot for the PR of Piku has begun and there are some most unusual works being done. Today, we were a part of it along with Deepika (Padukone) and Irrfan (Khan). Unfortunately, I am not permitted to expose them (promotion methods) here, but may I just say that they all look rather unusual and hilarious," Bachchan has posted.
The blog of the actor, who is one of the most followed Indian celebrities on Twitter and Facebook, is widely read by his fans across the globe.
It is interesting to see that instead of pumping a large sum on extravagant promotions of the film, Bachchan is resorting to blogs and social networking sites to create a buzz and curiosity about his upcoming film.
The 72-year-old actor will be seen playing Deepika's father in the film, which has been mostly shot in Kolkata. Billed as one of the 'films to watch out for in 2015', Piku brings Bachchan, Deepika and Irrfan together for the first time.
Big B, who was very excited to meet his two co-stars on the first day of shoot, has expressed his wish to act with them again in the future.
The film's poster was also recently shot at Mehboob Studios in Mumbai. The production unit of the film updated fans about the same through Piku's official Twitter handle, using hashtag PikuPosterShoot. Another hashtag, WeCantWait-ForPikuPoster, was also seen trending on Twitter.
Piku also marks the reunion of Shoojit Sircar, Ronnie Lahiri and Juhi Chaturvedi-the team that had scripted Vicky Donor. Produced by MSM Motion Pictures in association with Saraswati Entertainment Creations Limited and Rising Sun Films, the film is scheduled to release on April 30.
