Deepika Has No Time To Promote Her Rajnikanth Film!!

It seems Deepika Padukone’s schedules are getting too cluttered for her to devote any time for the promotion of her new film Kochadaiyaan where she comes together with Rajnikanth.

Known to fiercely passionately and protectively promote her projects, be it Ayan Mukerjee’s Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani or Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela, this time Deepika is caught in a no-win situation vis-à-vis the promotional strategy for Kochadaiyaan.

Says a source close to the film, “Deepika’s hands and feet are completely tied at the moment. She is shooting round-the-clock for Farah Khan’s Happy New Year. It’s a complicated cast requiring the ‘combined’ dates of 7-8 actors. Deepika can’t break the schedule while the other actors wait for her.Unlike other recent under-production films where she was able to get time off to promote her back-to-back releases in 2013 this time there is no scope for her to zip off to the various places where Kochadaiyaan’s release is being planned.”

Adding to the woes of the marketing team is the fact that Rajnikanth would not be physically present for any of the promotions.

“The team was counting on Deepika’s tremendous star-power at the many promotional events. But now with her unavailability Rajni Sir might make an exception and come forward to promote Kochadaiyaan at selected events,” says a core member of the film’s team.

Next week Rajnikanth is most likely to be present at the Hyderabad first-look trailer release of Kochadaiyaan. The original plan was to take Deepika only to the event in Hyderabad. The female superstar who wraps up her shooting of Farah’s film and goes straight in Sanjay Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani, has expressed her inability to attend the event in Hyderabad.

Curiously Deepika has not dubbed for even the Hindi version of Kochadaiyaan. It had been dubbed by a dubbing artiste with the understanding that Deepika would do the needful before the film’s release.

The film’s co-producer Dr Murli Manohar gives his leading lady a clean chit. “Deepika will do whatever marketing and promotion she can closer to the release. She is busy shooting with Shah Rukh Khan. In fact she had come to Chennai for the music release of Kochadaiyaan with Shah Rukh Khan. She is a thorough professional. I am sure she will make the time to speak for our film and do whatever is needed.The opportunity to work with Rajnikanth does’t crop up too often for any of the leading ladies.”
