Deepika, Aamir top the ETC Bollywood Business Awards 2013


The 4th edition of ETC Bollywood Business Awards were concluded on 18th January 2014 in Mumbai. These are the only awards show in the country that recognizes talent based on the economic success of their films. The year 2013 has been a record-breaking one for Bollywood at the box- office, with 3 films grossing over 200 cr. and 5 films entering the 100 crore club.
Amongst the actors, Aamir Khan and Deepika Padukone came up tops, with Aamir’s Dhoom 3 breaking all records at the box office with a gross revenue of Rs. 280 Cr.+. Deepika had 4 blockbusters at the box-office – Race 2, YJHD, Chennai Express & Ram Leela, grossing over Rs. 635 crores at the Box-Office. There was close competition in the Highest Grossing Actor (Male) category with Aamir Khan, Ranbir Kapoor & Shah Rukh Khan grossing about Rs. 220+ crores but ultimately Aamir Khan was declared the winner with the fabulous performance of Dhoom 3 at the box-office.

Says Deepika Padukone – “This is truly a unique award. This is the first time I am getting an award that is purely based on the business that a film does. Thank you everyone who went out there and bought a ticket, believed in my movies and eventually has made it the success that it has become.”
This year, all the entrants of the 100 crore club & the 200 crore club were awarded such as YRF for Dhoom 3, Red Chillies & UTV Films for Chennai Express, Rakesh Roshan for Krrish 3, Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Ram Leela, Ramesh Taurani for Race 2, Ayan Mukerji for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, etc.
Says Shah Rukh Khan on receiving the award on behalf of Red Chillies for Chennai Express, “I’m very happy, Thank you Zee ETC Bollywood for conferring this award to Red Chillies. I think the award should go to the production team as they work so hard on a film. So I’m very very happy that we had a successful film in the company & hopefully we’ll utilize that experience with other films & other directors & other films that we make & make sure we have a lot more people liking our films!”
