Om Shanti Om

When a star is discovered the whole world bows down to its glory.  Deepika was launched in a grand manner opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Her launch received much fanfare and she soon was spotted at every popular event of the tinsel town with King Khan. Farah Khan in an interview stated that she has seen Deepika transform gradually with each passing film of hers.

Love Aaj Kal

After a successful stint with OSO, Dippy paved way for a list of interesting directors who were willingly eager to sign her. This is when she was struggling with films like Chandni Chowk to China and Bachna Ae Haseeno, she received the opportunity to work with Imtiaz Ali. Imtiaz was popular for his unconventional way of narration which grabbed masses to the theatres and this was the perfect opportunity for Dippy to explore her wild side. With Love Aaj Kal Deepika proved that she is a director’s actor and would mould herself to fit in the shoes of her character.

Cocktail

With the release of this film, there was no stopping for Deepika. She rose notches above her contemporaries and in doing so she gave even better performances in the years to come. This Homi Adajania film became a rage with youngsters following the trend one after the other. Even the songs were chartbusters. Cocktail gave Deepika a new direction in the film industry.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

By the time Deepika signed Ayan Mukerji’s Ye Jawani Hai Deewani, her popularity had reached an all time high and just her name started drawing audience to theatres. A versatile actor by now, Deepika was content to be doing films that were big budget and were helmed by big directors. YJHD was a huge success thanks to her chemistry with former boyfriend Ranbir and Deepika became an even bigger star.

Chennai Express

Another smash hit at the box-office with SRK, Menamma became a popular character post the release of the film. This film proved Ms Padukone’s effortless comic timing. After doing this film, she was often questioned if working with Khans was on her list and if so then who she would enjoy working with the most. However she took a leap of faith and worked with the newer lot instead.

Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela

Deepika Padukone romanced her current beau Ranveer Singh for the first time in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram-Leela. This was the time Deepika left her ultra glamorous roles and experimented with different shades of her character. Her portrayal of Leela was a path breaking move in her career. The actress gave back to back super hit performances leaving he contemporaries green with envy.

Kochadaiiyaan

Kochadaiiyaan became a milestone in Deepika’s career when she worked opposite superstar Rajinikanth. The film had created a lot of hype thanks to the motion capture technology used and because DP was one of Rajinikanth’s leading lady. After gaining so much name and fame, something that was left for Deepika was to work with the living legend of the Hindi film industry. Piku gave her a platform to showcase her versatility to a greater extent. Working with Shoojit and Amitabh Bachchan not only gave her an exposure to the medium cinema is but also paved way for exciting projects to come her way.

Tamasha

Deepika’s latest stint in Tamasha received mixed bag of reviews. This is the only film where there was no moderate rating of the actress. The ones who liked Ranbir, did not like Dippy’s performance and likewise. However we feel that even thought the actress did not get the chance to enjoy as much screen space as Ranbir however she still packed a punch with the scenes she was in. Can you get over Tara, like really?

Although this would be an early prediction, we feel that Sanjay Leela’s Bajirao Mastani will have a greater impact on Deepika’s career. Doing the role of Mastani has brought her in comparison with veterans like Madhu Bala. This could either be a major hit or miss by Deepika and going by the buzz, we predict the former.
