Deepika Padukone's double hat-trick with KOCHADAIIYAAN
Ok, so Deepika Padukone wasn't 'really' there in KOCHADAIIYAAN. However, the fact remains that it was her face which was on the posters and her personality which was used for motion capture in the Rajinikanth starrer. And as luck would have it, not just has the film turned out to be successful, it has also resulted in a double hat trick for the lady who is clearly on a roll.
Tamil version of KOCHADAIIYAAN is a good success and has already collected around 50 crore. The film would comfortably cross the 80 crore mark just in India. Since the film is yet to be released in many languages internationally, one can expect added moolah across the globe and 100 crore is a given.
With this, Deepika would have scored her fifth straight 100 crore success after RACE 2, YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI, CHENNAI EXPRESS and RAM-LEELA. Add to that COCKTAIL which released before these four films and Deepika now has six hits/superhits/blockbusters in a row, hence resulting in a clear double hat-trick. No other heroine in the current generation has achieved this feat and that only makes Deepika a clear front runner in live as well as animation category, what with KOCHADAIIYAAN, an Eros production, being the highest grosser ever in this genre and technology.
Of course cynics may argue that this isn't really a live film starring Deepika and is mainly an animated feature. However, if Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor could be pulled up for the flop show of ROADSIDE ROMEO when only their voice was used for the film, Deepika deserves all the credits for at least being there as an artist whose services were required in motion capture format for this Soundarya Rajinikanth directed film.
